Work experience

  • 30 years experience (1979-2009) in Internal Medicine, Oncology and Hematology, acquired at the University Hospital, Geneva, and abroad. After a 7 years fellowship, appointed senior registrar from 1986 to 1993 then promoted as a senior consultant from 1993 to 2009. Expert in cutting edge diagnosis tools and treatments for variety of cancer patients with special emphasis on lymphoma, Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, myeloma, acute and chronic leukemias, myeloproliferative and myelodysplastic syndromes.
  • Appointed consultant in leading French Institutions for cancer treatment: 1986 at Saint-Louis Hospital in Paris (Prof. E. Gluckman) and in 1998 at Henri-Mondor Hospital in Paris (Prof. F. Reyes).
  • From 1984 to 2009, elected co-director for the allogeneic and autologous bone marrow transplantation program in Geneva, with full responsibility for out patient clinic. Played instrumental role in initiation of Geneva Cord Blood Bank.
  • Responsibility for development of innovative therapeutics protocols with Pharma Industry (e.g. Hoffmann La Roche, Schering) by designing and running clinical trials, mainly focused on use of monoclonal antibodies and radio immunotherapy.
  • Regular pre- and postgraduate teaching activities, University of Geneva Medical School.

Designated expert and consultant for Swiss Cancer League and Committee member of Geneva Cancer League, designated member of Swiss Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia Expert Group, designated expert for Cancer and Fertility Group, member of Swiss Medical Oncology Society, designated expert to Swiss Group for Clinical Cancer Research.

  • Qualified (FMH*) in Internal Medicine and qualified (FMH*) in Oncology-Hematology
  • Privat-Docent** of the University of Geneva, Switzerland
  • Expert in chemotherapy and immunotherapy for cancer and hematological malignancies, with specific follow-up skills for care of patients after hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (autograft andallograft) and highly knowledgeable in supportive treatment of patients with bone marrow failure and immunodeficiency.

More than 68 publications in peer-reviewed journals, including Trends in Immunology, Lancet, The New England Journal of Medicine, Blood, and The Journal of Clinical Oncology.
